Bella's European Venue Journal II: Revealing Ravello: Five Luxury Wedding Venues I Think Couples Should Know

There are places you visit, and places you remember. Ravello belongs firmly in the second category.

High above the sparkling Mediterranean, surrounded by lush gardens, historic villas and extraordinary views across the Amalfi Coast, Ravello has an atmosphere that is difficult to put into words.

It feels romantic without trying too hard. Elegant, but never overly formal. Peaceful, yet full of character.

And perhaps that is why, after visiting so many beautiful destinations across Europe, Ravello remains one of those places I find myself returning to.

Welcome to the second edition of Bella's European Venue Journal.

This month, we're travelling to one of Italy's most enchanting wedding destinations and exploring five Ravello wedding venues I think couples should know.

Why Ravello?

When people imagine an Amalfi Coast wedding, they often picture colourful villages, winding coastal roads and dramatic sea views.

Ravello offers something slightly different.

Perched high above the coastline, it feels removed from the bustle below. The setting is dramatic, but the atmosphere is wonderfully serene. Historic villas, beautiful gardens and panoramic terraces create natural settings for ceremonies, dinners and celebrations that need very little embellishment.

There is a sense of history here too. Ravello has long attracted artists, writers and travellers drawn to its beauty, and you can understand why the moment you arrive.

For a destination wedding, that sense of place is incredibly special.

You're not simply choosing a venue with a beautiful view.

You're choosing an entire destination with its own character.

Five Ravello Wedding Venues I Think Couples Should Know

One of the things I love about Ravello is that there isn't one particular way to celebrate here.

Some venues feel grand and historic. Others are intimate and private. Some are wonderfully suited to a luxury hotel experience, while others offer the feeling of having your own Italian retreat.

Rather than calling these the "best" venues - because the best venue is always the one that suits you - these are five that I think are particularly worth knowing if you're considering Ravello for your wedding.

Hotel Villa Cimbrone
Hotel Villa Cimbrone

1, Villa Cimbrone

The Queen of Ravello

If there is one venue that feels synonymous with Ravello's most extraordinary side, it has to be Villa Cimbrone.

Historic architecture, magnificent gardens and that unforgettable view from the famous Terrace of Infinity create a setting that is genuinely difficult to compare with anywhere else.

There is something almost cinematic about arriving here. The gardens reveal themselves gradually, leading you through a series of beautiful spaces before reaching those extraordinary views across the coast.

For couples dreaming of an iconic, ultra-luxurious Italian wedding, Villa Cimbrone is a natural contender.

It is a venue for making an entrance, for beautiful photographs and for creating a celebration that feels truly exceptional.

And because a venue of this calibre naturally represents a significant level of investment, it is one where thoughtful planning from the very beginning is particularly important.

Best for: Couples looking for an iconic, high-end Ravello celebration with extraordinary gardens, history and views.

Bella's take: If you want your guests to arrive and immediately think, "Where on earth are we?", this is the one.

2, Villa La Rondinaia

The Private Jewel Above Ravello

Villa La Rondinaia has a very different atmosphere.

Set high above Ravello, this extraordinary private villa feels secluded and wonderfully romantic, with some of the most spectacular views I have experienced in the area.

There is also something particularly fascinating about its history. The villa was famously associated with writer Gore Vidal, adding another layer of character to an already remarkable setting.

For me, it is perhaps one of the most scenic setting in Ravello - and that is saying something.

Where Villa Cimbrone feels grand and iconic, La Rondinaia feels more like discovering your own private world above the Amalfi Coast.

It is particularly appealing to couples who are drawn to privacy, character and the romance of a private villa celebration.

Best for: Couples looking for an exceptional private-villa setting with spectacular scenery and a strong sense of place.

Bella's take: There are views that make you pause. La Rondinaia has several of them.

3, Villa Eva

Villa Eva is one I particularly like including in a curated Ravello selection because it offers something slightly different.

It has the beautiful gardens, Mediterranean atmosphere and panoramic setting you come to Ravello for, while offering another option for couples who may be looking at a different level of investment from the very top end of the market.

And importantly, choosing a venue here doesn't mean sacrificing that feeling of arriving somewhere special.

The setting is romantic, the gardens provide beautiful possibilities for ceremonies and photographs, and the wider Ravello area gives couples plenty of opportunities to create a destination experience around the wedding itself.

For couples who have fallen in love with the idea of Ravello but want to explore beyond its most exclusive headline venues, Villa Eva is absolutely one to have on the list.

Best for: Couples wanting a beautiful Ravello wedding experience while exploring a different investment level and style of celebration.

Bella's take: Sometimes the perfect venue isn't the one you first discover - it's the one that gives you the feeling you were looking for.

4, Palazzo Confalone

The Intimate Escape

Not every destination wedding needs a large guest list.

And this is where Palazzo Confalone becomes particularly interesting.

With its historic character and intimate scale, it offers something quite different from Ravello's larger and more expansive venues.

For couples planning a boutique celebration with a smaller group of their favourite people, this can be incredibly appealing.

There is something lovely about the idea of bringing only your closest family and friends to somewhere as beautiful as Ravello and creating a wedding that feels genuinely personal.

Rather than filling a huge space, the focus becomes the people, the setting and the experience.

Best for: Couples dreaming of an intimate celebration with approximately 25–30 guests.

Bella's take: For the right couple, smaller isn't less. It can actually feel more luxurious.

5, Palazzo Avino

The Classic Ravello Grande Dame

For some couples, the dream isn't a private villa.

It's a beautiful Italian hotel where everything feels effortlessly taken care of.

Palazzo Avino offers that classic Ravello luxury-hotel experience, combining historic character with elegant interiors, beautiful terraces and those extraordinary Amalfi Coast views.

It is a wonderful option for couples who love the idea of hotel luxury, service and the ease of having their wedding experience centred around a beautiful property.

And because it is different in character from a private villa or historic garden estate, it gives couples another way to experience Ravello.

Best for: Couples who love the elegance, service and convenience of a luxury hotel experience.

Bella's take: Sometimes the luxury is in the details - and in knowing that your guests are beautifully looked after throughout their stay.

Ravello Beyond the Wedding Day

One of the greatest pleasures of a destination wedding is that the wedding itself becomes part of a much bigger experience.

For couples bringing family and friends to the Amalfi Coast, there are so many opportunities to create memories together before and after the ceremony.

A relaxed welcome aperitivo.

A long Italian dinner.

Exploring Ravello's beautiful streets and gardens.

A boat trip along the coast.

A leisurely afternoon by the pool.

A farewell brunch overlooking the Mediterranean.

These are the moments guests remember.

And for me, this is one of the reasons European destination weddings can be so special.

You're not simply planning a wedding day. You're creating a few days of shared experiences with the people you love most.

Finding the Right Ravello Wedding Venue

The Amalfi Coast is undeniably beautiful, but not every venue will suit every couple.

Guest numbers, accommodation, accessibility, transport and the style of celebration you have in mind can all influence which venue is right for you.

And then there is the feeling.

Sometimes a venue looks perfect on paper but doesn't quite feel like you when you arrive.

And sometimes a place you hadn't initially considered becomes the one you can't stop thinking about.

That's why I believe choosing a destination wedding venue should begin with understanding the couple, rather than simply presenting a list of beautiful places.

What kind of atmosphere do you want?

How do you want your guests to feel?

Are you imagining an intimate celebration or a larger gathering?

Do you want a relaxed wedding weekend or something more formal?

And what do you want those precious days in Italy to feel like?

Once you know those answers, the right venue becomes much easier to recognise.

Bella's Planning Tip

Don't choose an Amalfi Coast venue simply because it has the best view.

Think about the experience you want to create around that view.

Where will your guests stay? How will they arrive? What will you do together before and after the wedding? And, most importantly, does the venue allow you to celebrate in the way you've always imagined?

The most beautiful wedding venue is ultimately the one that feels beautiful for you.

On a final note: As with any destination, Ravello has its own character and rhythm, and the venues here can suit some styles of celebration better than others. Understanding what matters most to you - from the atmosphere and guest experience to how you want the evening to unfold - is an important part of finding the right fit.

Why Ravello Stays With You

Perhaps that is what makes Ravello so captivating.

It isn't simply one spectacular view, one beautiful garden or one extraordinary venue.

It is the feeling of being there.

The warm evening light.

The scent of Mediterranean gardens.

The sound of conversation over a long Italian dinner.

The sea stretching endlessly into the distance.

And that wonderful feeling that, for a few days, life has slowed down.

For couples dreaming of a luxury destination wedding in Italy, Ravello offers something incredibly special: extraordinary beauty combined with an atmosphere that feels intimate, elegant and timeless.

And while I have many favourite places across Europe, Ravello remains one of those destinations I find myself returning to again and again.

From my travels, with love,
